About us

As a unique, committed and state-owned bank, with strong regional roots to serve its customers, La Banque Postale is an international bancassurance group with a strong sense of community.

18 million customers, spanning private individuals, businesses, and local authorities

33 million policyholders in property and personal protection worldwide

17 000 contact points

6 500 post offices

Founded in 2006, La Banque Postale is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. As a subsidiary of La Poste Groupe and a member of the major state-owned financial group, it is a bank with strong regional roots, serving its 18 million customers, including individuals, businesses, institutions and local authorities.

Along with its subsidiaries, including CNP Assurances, La Banque Postale forms a major international bancassurance group, ranked 12th in the eurozone based on total assets. It offers local banking services through more than 17,000 contact points, including around 6,500 post offices, throughout France. As the leading financing bank for local authorities and public hospitals since 2015, it plays a vital role in regional economic development.

For the past 20 years, La Banque Postale has applied a model leveraging a combination of environmental and social considerations to drive its performance and resilience. Thanks to this consistency over the years, La Banque Postale has been able to create responsible value and stay one step ahead.

A socially responsible bank

Created with the purpose of serving the public, La Banque Postale is the only bank in France with an accessible banking mission enshrined by law, guaranteeing universal access to essential banking services for all.

As a mission-led company since 2022 – one of the first players in the banking and finance sector to have made this choice – it has set its purpose at the heart of its articles of association. It continues to reaffirm its pioneering role in community finance and to shape a just transition in light of major environmental, societal, regional and digital changes.

  • Commitment to inclusion: it provides day-to-day support to 1.7 million financially vulnerable customers and, through the L'Appui platform, to customers in difficulty.
  • Commitment to regions: it is a pioneer in green and social loans for the public sector and the social economy, and finances projects that are essential to local life, including transport, health and digital development.
  • Commitment to the environment: it has set itself the target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 – ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement targets – and has launched innovative initiatives such as the first impact bank card from the traditional French banking sector, in partnership with WWF France.

This commitment is recognised as one of the best in the world: La Banque Postale is among the leaders for its non-financial ratings.

A multi-business model

La Banque Postale operates a diversified business model, organised around three complementary business lines: Retail Banking and Insurance, Insurance and Asset Management Partnerships, and Corporate and Local Development Banking. This diversification enhances the Group’s agility and resilience and drives sustainable growth.

It offers a comprehensive range of multi-channel bancassurance services organised around its three brands: La Banque Postale, for routine banking, Louvre Banque Privée, for private banking, and CNP Assurances, its subsidiary for property and personal insurance.

Our ambition

Driven by its strategic plan, “La Banque Postale 2030”, La Banque Postale aims to build a leading European bancassurance provider serving all its customers, and to consolidate its pioneering role in community finance. It is continuing to pursue its strategy of diversification and transformation, with the aim of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

Group shareholding structure

La Banque Postale has carved out a unique position in the French market by basing its growth on a multi-partner business model that leverages La Poste Groupe’s values of trust, accessibility and local service.

La Poste Groupe owns all of La Banque Postale’s capital and voting rights, except for one share held by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Since the creation of the major state-owned financial group, La Poste Groupe is majority-owned by Caisse des Dépôts (66 %) and minority-owned by the French State (34 %).
