The European Banking Authority publishes the results of its 2023 EU-wide stress test

On 28 July 2023, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published the results of the 2023 stress test exercise conducted in cooperation with the European Central Bank (ECB). A total of 57 banks supervised by the ECB were covered by the exercise and scenarios were tested to the end of 2025. Under IFRS 17, applicable to insurance contracts from 1 January 2023, La Banque Postale demonstrates its strength in a particularly severe adverse scenario.

La Banque Postale announced today that it has completed the acquisition by LBP AM of La Financière de l'Échiquier (LFDE), one of France's leading entrepreneurial asset management companies. The transaction, which has been approved by the French financial markets Authority (Autorité des Marchés Financiers) and competition Authority (Autorité de la Concurrence), creates a key player in conviction-based asset management in France and Europe.

Impacts of applying the new IFRS 17 for insurance contracts on the 2022 financial statements already published under IFRS 4

Attributable equity under IFRS 17 amounts to €20.8 billion compared with €17.1 billion under IFRS 4. The impact of rising interest rates is more moderate, reflecting a better match between the measurement of assets and liabilities under IFRS 17, with Savings/Pensions liabilities now measured at market value.

Creation of a major bancassurance group: final stage of the merger between La Banque Postale and CNP Assurances

This is the third and final stage of the merger of La Banque Postale and CNP Assurances, following the creation of the major public financial centre, a long-standing project announced by the Minister of the Economy and Finance alongside Caisse des Dépôts and La Poste in 2018. After La Banque Postale’s simplified takeover bid on CNP Assurances, which ended in June 2022 and was followed by a delisting, La Banque Postale became the sole shareholder of CNP Assurances, thus owning 100% of its capital.

La Banque Postale reinforces its asset management activities: LBP AM enters into exclusive negotiations with Groupe Primonial with a view to acquiring 100% of La Financière de l'Échiquier (LFDE)

With this transaction, La Banque Postale Asset Management (LBP AM), a subsidiary of La Banque Postale (at 75%) and Aegon Asset Management (at 25%), would consolidate its position as a multi-specialist conviction manager with total assets under management of €67 billion. It would also extend its presence to 9 European countries and broaden its range of products.

La Banque Postale: Successful inaugural Social covered bond issue

La Banque Postale, through its subsidiary La Banque Postale Home Loan SFH dedicated to refinancing home loans granted by the bank retail network in France, has successfully placed its first social covered bond issue on January 23th 2023 focusing on social home ownership loan - “Prêt d’Accession Sociale”. This transaction follows a first issue of green bond through this vehicle in 2022.
